PROJECT 1
Diagramming Architectural Principles

In this group assignment, we were assigned to a house and was required to have a detail study on it. The assigned house for our group was W-house by Uchida Architects, located in Oita, Japan. We were required to study on its principle, design intention and the design elements used that relates to the context and intention. After analyzing the information, we were required to produce 5 diagrams along with 5 models, basic drawings such as plan, section and elevation.

concept

dividing required indoor space from collection of perpendicularly crossed independent walls.

structure

walls are alternatively placed vertically and horizontally, forming an indirect intersecting point and a grid system of placement of walls.

space planning

each unit of space are connected by a common space. middle square space parasited by two extended spaces

circulation

circulation elements revolves around entry and exit. pathway is a grid system through a circulation path that influences sequence of space.
